Employment

All inquiries for employment should be made through the Bexar County Human Resources Department. Employment opportunities with the Crime Laboratory can be viewed online at www.bexar.org/hr/careers.html. Applications must be made online.

All Forensic Scientist positions require, at a minimum, a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from an accredited college or university in Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science, Natural Science or a closely related field.

Competition for Forensic Scientist positions can be extremely competitive. Many selected candidates have a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Forensic Science and a B.S. in one of the sciences. A degree in Criminal Justice in not considered a substitution for a B.S. degree in science.

Requests for information pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act (PIA), Texas Government Code Sec. 552.001 (http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/SOTWDocs/GV/htm/GV.552.htm) should be addressed to the “Custodian of the Record Bexar County Criminal Investigation Laboratory” and may be conveyed by U.S. Mail, FAX, or in person.

All requests are reviewed by the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for statutory exceptions. Records included in a PIA request will not be provided:
