Cremation Permits Issued

This office can only issue cremation permits on cases where the death occurred in Bexar County. This permit is required by law for all cremations.

To this end, we insist on nothing less than excellence in practice, scrupulous integrity, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Medical Examiner's Office is to provide the citizens of Bexar County with accurate medical and scientific determinations of the cause and manner of death of those individuals dying as a result of violence, intoxication, sudden and unexpected natural disease, or unknown causes in Bexar County.


Please note that we are unable to allow viewing of decedents at our office for any reason. Viewing is best conducted at the funeral home or mortuary after your loved one is released from the Medical Examiner's office.
