Elizabeth (Liz) McDevitt, Probate Court No. 2, Auditor
Liz McDevitt traveled and lived abroad for thirteen years before returning to the U.S. with her Bachelor’s of Arts in Textiles and Fine Arts from the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham, England. Upon her return to Texas, Ms. McDevitt was employed by a law practice in El Paso specializing in probates and guardianships. In 1995, she received her CLA designation as a “Certified Legal Assistant” from the University of Texas at El Paso. Four years later, Ms. McDevitt moved to San Antonio and joined the Probate Court No. 2 team under then Judge Marion.
Attorneys (and their staff) may call the Court Auditors (Liz McDevitt or Liza Cueto-Vasek) with questions about:
- Annual reports, accountings both guardianship and probate
- Safekeeping agreements
- Sales of real and personal property
- Attorney’s fees and commissions
- Applications and orders to close and discharge
Elizabeth (Liza) Cueto-Vasek, Probate Court No. 2, Auditor
Liza Cueto-Vasek has a degree in French Literature and Philosophy from the French Institute of Latin America, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She moved to San Antonio thirty-four years ago where she began work in real estate and various community service projects. In 2010, Ms. Cueto-Vasek began working for Bexar County as an Assistant Auditor for Probate Court No. 2.

Susan (Sue) Bean, Probate Court No. 2, Court Investigator
Sue Bean was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, but moved to Texas to attend the University of Incarnate Word, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 1970. She later received her Master’s degree in Education from A & M University in Kingsville, formerly A & I University, and she is currently working on her doctoral dissertation. From 1973 to 2003, Ms. Bean taught high school, which she left to join the Probate Court 2 staff.
Call the Court Investigator with questions about:
- anything involving potential guardianships / current investigations
- before you file for a temporary guardianship
- applications for management trusts & payment of claims without guardianship (formerly Probate Code sections 867 & 887)
- applications for successor trustees of court-created trusts
- show cause for guardians of the person
- any legal issues in ongoing guardianships of the person

Martin Collins graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law with his Juris Doctorate in 1988, after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Accounting. After law school, Mr. Collins joined his father’s practice at Collins, DeWall, and Riley, specializing in family law. In 2004, he joined Bexar County Probate Court No. 2 as the Staff Attorney, and in 2010, he was awarded the Outstanding Lawyer Award by the San Antonio Business Journal.
