Uresti reminds Taxpayers that the Property Tax Deadline is extended to Monday, February 1ST
San Antonio, Texas – “The deadline to pay your property taxes without penalty and interest has been extended to Monday, February 1st, because the January 31st deadline falls on a weekend,” said Albert Uresti, Bexar County Tax Assessor. “Our goal is to help keep families in their homes. A large part of this goal is helping our citizens learn how they can avoid additional charges on their tax bill by paying their taxes on time,” said Uresti.
After February 1st, state law requires that all unpaid tax accounts be assessed a 7% fee for penalty and interest, which will continue to increase monthly until the taxes are paid in full. An additional 15-20% attorney collection fee is added to business personal property unpaid accounts on April 2nd and to other unpaid real property accounts on July 1st.
To accommodate taxpayers and business owners who still need to pay their tax bill by the deadline, the Tax Assessor is extending office hours of operation at all four locations from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1st. Curbside payment drop-off at the downtown location will be available beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Friday, January 29th and will resume on Monday, February 1st from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
This year the Tax Office will have two days of curbside service to better accommodate Bexar County taxpayers. The curbside side payment drop-off schedule is as follows:
|Main Office||233 N. Pecos at W. Martin St.||8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.|
|Southside Tax Office||3505 Pleasanton Road||2:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.|
|Northeast Tax Office||3370 Nacogdoches Road||2:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.|
|Northwest Tax Office||8407 Bandera Road||2:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.|
